The day has finally come. The day where Tucker head butts me so hard that it leaves a bruise. It's a small bruise, but it is a little noticeable. And my face is throbbing. I've been waiting for it.
Let's get to our Easter. Easter is a lot like Thanksgiving to me in terms of family events. It's like a contest to see how many events you can have (three) and how much food you can eat (a bunch) in 24 hours.
Saturday morning Tucker luckily slept until about 7. Danny got home shortly after that and we all looked to see what the Easter Bunny brought us. I failed to get pictures (I suck), but the Bunny brought Tucker 2 books(1 spot at Target), baseball pj's, a water bottle like mommy's and the cutest boots you ever did see. The Bunny brought Danny coconut bars and orange slices (the candy kind) and he brought me white chocolate Reese's eggs, which I proceeded to eat for breakfast. Danny took Tucker to run errands while I prepped for the rest of the day and cleaned the kitchen.
Our first Easter was Saturday at 1. I made Mix and Match Mama's Peeps Smore Bars and corn casserole. Let's talk about these bars. I hate Peeps. I tried them once as a child and just couldn't understand the greatness of them. However, if you smash one between a cakey crust and chocolate frosting, I could eat them for days! Seriously, something magical happens when you do this. I will be making these every year!
At this Easter, we did an Easter egg hunt. Tucker didn't really understand it and was perfectly content just carrying around his one blue egg. Danny retrieved the rest for him.
The next Easter was with my mom, brother and his girlfriend (and their new little Yorkie, Max) at our house. I made my BBQ ribs in the crockpot and they brought sides.
Tucker ended up going to bed around 11:30. Saturday was a long night. Teething is bound to make him an only child. If they don't pop through soon, I'm going to end up in the loony bin.
The real Easter was spent just Tucker and me. Danny had to work, but we made sure to visit a couple of times. Once after church so Tucker could show Danny his nice Easter shirt, then another time to deliver some sweet tea.

We had our last Easter at Danny's dads. Tucker ate like a king and then we had another Easter egg hunt. He totally got it this time and had a bag full of eggs with candy (yay, right?!).
After we played for a bit we headed back home to meet my mom. She was coming up to watch Tucker while I went to the grocery. It was so nice being able to take my time, especially since I'm not really supposed to be walking around without crutches, which was done all weekend long.
This Easter didn't come without excitement though. Danny's pigs were attacked by a dog at his mom's house. Danny and his brother spent most of the afternoon dealing with the police and trying to find the owner of the dogs. One pig was injured so badly that it had to be put down. The other was only injured on its ear and will be fine. The dog came back at least one more time yesterday after all of the excitement. At some point, the dog tried to bite 2 cops, which resulted in the owner being told she needs to put the dog down. I'm relieved. Tucker and my nieces all play outside at my mother-in-law's house. And this isn't the dogs first time injuring animals. We like to keep things interesting around here!
Today starts the Whole30. My body is glad. I ate really bad all weekend long, which will come back to bite me here in a few days! Pray for my husband. He just went all of Lent without sweet tea and will be going another 30 days without it.
Sounds like an exhausting Easter, haha! I'm so glad those dogs are being put down, I was attacked by a pitbull when I was 9, it was horrible...You look amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteWhole30 is great...if you can stick with it :-) I lost about 15lbs but gained most of it back unfortunately. My next one will be a Whole 60.
ReplyDeleteGirl, Whole30 will change your life! I had a few days off of it since I finished my 30 and I am RUNNING right back to my Whole30... like I can't get there fast enough after just a few days off of it!
